Welcome to Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary

Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary, based in Warwickshire (Shakespeare country), is a wonderful animal sanctuary established by Carole Webb in 1988. It is currently home to more than 470 farm animals and at it's peak, has cared for over 800 animals at one time.

All fundraising time is volunteered and there are no offices to maintain and no directors to pay. 100% of your donation will go to our animals to feed, shelter and to provide medical care. We never make profits and always invest the money into our animals and the land they live on.

Spring/Summer 2013 Urgent Appeal Annual Sheep Shearing and Mucking Out of Barns Please can you help with a donation towards shearing costs? Our 400+ sheep are due to be sheared during the first week of June. Although we sell the wool this does not meet the costs of shearing. Please can you help with a donation for this important welfare task? At least twice a year we also need to muck out the barns and poly tunnels. For this huge task we have to hire a specialist contractor who can do the job quickly and without too much disruption to the daily lives of the animals. We are very grateful for your donations large and small, all of which will help us immensely. Please can you help towards funding any of the following - Shearing and foot trimming for 430 sheep Mucking out of barns and poly-tunnels Fields - Topping out coarse grass and tine harrowing Purchase of some essential equipment to replace rusted and broken hurdles, feed hay racks etc. Estimated costs of all the above approx £8500 Thank you to everyone who helped with our winter feed appeal. We are sorry to ask you again but we now need to plan ahead to ensure the well-being of our 450 animals, (Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Turkeys and Chickens) this summer. Some of our animals have escaped the horrendous "Live Export Trade". These animals have suffered a lot and they deserve the peace they now enjoy. Creatures which are too often dismissed as stupid and worthless show remarkable intelligence and gentleness once you've dispelled their fear. Whether they be exhausted cull ewes that have been forced to breed beyond any capacity that nature intended, or animals badly injured due to careless and rapid loading of terrified sheep on to ill designed transporters. A lucky few have found their way to Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary but the unfortunate majority are left to cope. For as the need for profit increases so man's compassion lessens and the victims continue to suffer.

Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary's costs are very high and we have to rely upon a sympathetic public to fund the sanctuary. Our membership is small but their loyalty is unmatched.  All time is volunteered, no wages to pay, no offices to maintain - every penny goes to our animals to feed, shelter and to provide medical care.

Your Help Needed We have 400+ animals to feed and care for at the sanctuary and frequently require costly veterinary services as many of our animals need special care and medication.  Our running costs amounted to approximately £87,000 last year (2012) and costs are likely to rise again throughout this year. We are constantly struggling to survive but determined we must continue and save the sanctuary from closure.  For the sake of the many hundreds of animals we have rescued in the past, those currently residing with us today and those that will require care and shelter in the future, we must continue with our work.  We ask you please to try and help us if you can. Farm animals also deserve humane care and compassion just as our more domesticated animals such as dogs and cats are afforded.
